What is a Traineeship

Traineeships are a great way to combine practical work experience with a formal qualification.

The best part – you are paid to work and to study!

Traineeships combine what you are learning in the workplace with formal qualifications studied through a Registered Training Organisation (RTO), such as TAFE. Traineeships can range from Certificate II through to Advanced Diploma levels and are available in many vocations in different sectors of business and industry. The formal training can be delivered ‘on the job’ by an RTO Consultant, online or in the classroom. There are no course fees payable by a trainee – it’s free!

You can complete a traineeship as a full-time or part-time employee. In some cases, you can even start a traineeship while you are still at school! As a full-time trainee, you will be fully qualified within 9 to 48 months depending on the vocation and the Certificate level undertaken.

Traineeships are perfect for school leavers, people re-entering the workforce or for those simply looking for a career change.

The qualification you achieve at the end of your traineeship can be used as ‘credit’ towards achieving a university degree. Similarly, many university graduates complete a traineeship to complement their degree with practical experience and training. The options are endless!

With over 500 occupations available through an apprenticeship or traineeship pathway, there are no limits to what you can achieve!
