BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION TRAINEESHIPS
Good at keeping things organised? Comfortable talking to people?
A business administration traineeship can be a practical way to get your first office job and build skills you can use across many different industries.
You’ll be employed while learning on the job and completing a nationally recognised qualification.
What does a business administration trainee do?
There isn’t one typical administration job.
Depending on the workplace, you might:
- Answer phones and emails
- Greet customers or visitors
- Organise appointments
- Update records
- Prepare documents
- Enter information into computer systems
- Help with filing and administration
- Support different people across the business
Some roles are heavily customer-focused. Others involve more behind-the-scenes administration.
Do I need office experience?
Many business administration traineeships are designed as entry-level positions.
You may not need previous office experience, although the requirements will depend on the individual vacancy.
Experience from school, retail, hospitality, volunteering or sport can still be relevant.
Think about times you’ve communicated with people, met deadlines, worked as part of a team or kept something organised.
What skills will I learn?
You could build practical skills in:
- Administration
- Customer service
- Workplace communication
- Computer and digital systems
- Record keeping
- Organisation
- Day-to-day business operations
These are skills used across almost every industry.
Where could a business traineeship lead?
Business administration skills are used in small businesses, professional offices, community organisations, trades businesses and many other workplaces.
As you gain experience, you may find opportunities in areas such as administration, reception, customer service, accounts or business operations.
The direction you take will depend on your interests, experience and further training.
How does a CCGT traineeship work?
You are employed by CCGT and complete your day-to-day work with a Host Employer.
You’ll learn on the job, complete formal training and have CCGT there to support you throughout the traineeship.
