Finishing school and still working out what comes next?
CCGT is hosting a free Career Information Session at Mingara Recreation Club on Wednesday 11 November, giving school finishers and their parents or carers the chance to learn more about apprenticeships, traineeships and pathways into work.
It’s a chance to hear from people with real experience, ask your own questions and get a clearer idea of what taking that first step into the workforce can actually look like.

Exploring apprenticeships and traineeships on the Central Coast?
For more than four decades, CCGT has helped people across the Central Coast start their careers through apprenticeships and traineeships, while working alongside local businesses to give them the workplace experience, training and support they need along the way.
This November, we’ll bring those different perspectives together in one room.
You’ll hear directly from a current apprentice, trainee, local employer and members of the CCGT team about how apprenticeships and traineeships work and what getting started is really like.
Hear from people who’ve actually done it
Rather than sitting through a long presentation, the evening will include a relaxed panel discussion covering the questions school finishers and their families often have.
What do employers actually look for when someone applies for an apprenticeship or traineeship? Do school marks and previous experience matter? What is it like balancing work and training? And what support is available once you’ve started?
Our apprentice and trainee panellists will also share their own experiences, including what surprised them, what they’ve learned and what they wish they had known before starting.
For parents and carers, the discussion will also cover workplace expectations, supervision and the ongoing support available to apprentices and trainees throughout their placement.
You don’t need to have it all figured out
If you’re interested in an apprenticeship or traineeship but don’t know exactly what career you want yet, that’s completely fine.
The evening is designed to help you explore your options, hear what different pathways are really like and ask the questions that matter to you.
You don’t need to arrive with your future mapped out. The aim is to leave with a better understanding of what’s available and what your next step could be.
